The Challenge

Each year, more than 22,000 people in Nepal are diagnosed with cancer, yet only a fraction have access to timely, life-saving care. Nearly 67% of patients die, primarily due to the lack of accessible, affordable cancer treatment.

This is not only Nepal’s challenge—it is a global responsibility to reduce disparities in cancer care.

The Solution

Binaytara is building a state-of-the-art, 200-bed comprehensive cancer hospital in Madhesh Province. This new facility will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies to deliver:

  • Comprehensive prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care
  • Radiation oncology, surgical oncology, and advanced chemotherapy services
  • Expanded capacity to treat an estimated 20,000 patients annually

Located in Janakpur, the hospital will serve more than 25 million people across Southern Nepal and Northern India.

Our Impact to Date

Since 2018, Binaytara has operated the Binaytara Health Clinic in Janakpur, providing essential cancer care services.

  • Served more than 1,700 local patients with cancer care
  • Delivered screenings, diagnostics, and chemotherapy close to home
  • Reduced the need for patients to travel 8–10 hours for treatment
  • Built strong partnerships with local government and community leaders
  • Held regular tumor boards with US oncology experts to guide patient care

Our History in Nepal

Before the Binaytara Health Clinic opened in 2018, patients in Madhesh Province faced heartbreaking barriers:

  • Traveling 10+ hours by bus to the nearest cancer hospital
  • Navigating care in unfamiliar languages and cultures
  • Enduring treatment alone, far from their families and support systems

Moved by these inequities, Dr. Binay Shah and Dr. Tara Shah founded Binaytara to expand access to cancer care in Nepal and the United States. Their mission grew from a belief that where you live should not determine whether you live when faced with cancer.

Looking Ahead

The 200-bed Binaytara Cancer Hospital will be a turning point for cancer care in Nepal. By expanding beyond the clinic and creating a comprehensive hospital, we will:

  • Provide affordable, high-quality care in a patient’s own community
  • Train local providers to sustain long-term oncology expertise
  • Create a replicable model for cancer care in other underserved regions worldwide

Your support makes this vision possible. Together, we can transform cancer care for millions.
