Sending Supplies to Communities Impacted by Flash Floods and Landslides in Northern Nepal

Dear Friends and Supporters,

It is with heavy hearts that we share this urgent update. Catastrophic landslides and flash floods surged through the Bhotekoshi river system on August 26, devastating communities across the Himalayan region. This tragedy has taken hundreds of lives, destroyed homes, and left more than a thousand people unaccounted for. This news is incredibly painful for us, as it strikes our home country of Nepal.

Amidst this disaster, we want to reassure our community about our staff. Our teammates in and around Kathmandu are safe. Additionally, our health clinic in the south is far from the affected area, and our teams and patients there are secure. We are in constant communication with our local teams.

Our thoughts are with everyone suffering right now, and we hope those affected can get the vital help they need. Binaytara is doing our part, moving quickly to provide support. We are donating critical supplies to a disaster relief fund to deliver the immediate aid that local communities are requesting.

How Your Donation Will Be Used:

When you donate to Binaytara, your contribution will help purchase and deliver essential relief supplies, including:

• Shelter and household items: Tents, tarpaulins, blankets, sleeping bags, and kitchen sets
• Hygiene and family care: Family hygiene kits, baby kits, dignity kits for women and girls, and sanitary supplies
• Food and nutrition: High-energy biscuits, ready-to-eat meals, rice, lentils, and cooking oil
• Medical supplies: Diagnostic test kits, essential medicines, and wound care and treatment commodities

We are coordinating this effort with other local partners in Nepal to ensure supplies reach the communities that need them most. Floodwaters and massive debris have cut off many remote communities. Damaged transportation systems, destroyed utilities, and harsh terrain are heavily complicating search-and-rescue efforts. To make matters worse, severe weather continues, creating a constant threat of further secondary disasters.
