Summary

This professional internship provides on-the-job training and hands-on experience in institutional fundraising approaches, proposal writing and grants management, awards tracking, cross-team collaborations and partner engagement. The person in this role will engage in various individual and collaborative work assignments, projects, and activities of varying complexity with training and mentorship, structured to enable the intern to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities needed in subsequent professional fundraising and business positions. The role is ideal for a recent college graduate who is a detail-oriented, mission-driven individual with strong writing skills who is interested in nonprofit development, healthcare and life sciences, and building fundraising skills. The position also offers a potential pathway to transition into a permanent, professional role based on performance and organizational need.

Institutional Medical Education (IME) Grants – approximately 65% of time

  • With training and support, play key role in writing and submitting IME grant applications.
  • Coordinate compliance tracking, documentation, and reporting for funded programs.
  • Coordinate internal workflows to ensure timely execution of grant deliverables.

Periodic Administrative Support – approximately 10% of time

  • Update IG’s workplan and project timelines.
  • Support data entry, tracking, and organization within customer relationship or grant management software.
  • Assist with scheduling internal and external meetings and managing communications internally and externally.

Miscellaneous Fundraising Support

  • Assist in planning, logistics, and execution of donor engagement and fundraising events. Provide day-of event support, including registration, set-up, and donor interactions.
  • Support foundation proposals, institutional engagement and proposal pipeline planning as needed and depending on skill set.
Conference and Continuing Medical Education Support
  • Support continuing medical education (CME) activities when applicable to IG responsibilities.
  • Assist with documentation, data entry, and administrative tasks related to CME programs.

Growth Path

Upon successful completion of the internship and based on readiness, organizational capacity, and performance evaluations, the role may transition into some combination of the following expanded responsibilities:

IME Oversight

  • Lead IME grant processes end-to-end, including planning, submission, compliance, and reporting.
  • Ensure timely execution of all funded IME activities.

Proposal Research & Drafting

  • Identify and research grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Draft high-quality grant proposals, budgets, letters of inquiry and supporting documents.
  • Collaborate interdepartmentally to develop accurate, compelling submissions.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate multiple workstreams, influence strategy, and create and build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Support stewardship efforts, including progress updates, collaborating on reporting collateral and relationship building.
  • Represent Binaytara in partner calls, meetings and professional convenings.

Qualifications

  • Interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, philanthropy, healthcare initiatives or prevention and medical science.
  • Strong writing, research, editorial and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience, with customer service experience a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and comfort problem solving.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with the need to constantly keep learning.
  • Some interest in or experience with life sciences is a plus but not required if you are willing to learn.
