Implementation Science Research Award

Dr. Akshee Batra is a Hematology and Oncology Fellow at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Batra earned her M.B.B.S. from Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi.

At the Summit on Cancer Health Disparities' Impact Pitch, Dr. Batra introduced her project “Implementing Patient Education Videos to Improve Understanding of Systemic Cancer Therapy.”

“Going on stage and getting this opportunity was amazing,” Dr. Batra said. “I’m very grateful that Binaytara is focusing on disparities. The judges asked very thought provoking questions… So it not only gave me the opportunity to present, they also mentored me while I was presenting my project and improved it for further research.”

Dr. Batra received the Binaytara Implementation Science Research Award maximum prize of $25,000 for her project. She plans to continue her research and expand its scope. “This is my passion,” Dr. Batra said. “Maybe we’ll develop a platform to enable patients all over the globe to get the information that they need.”
