Binaytara will offer competitive Implementation Science Research Grants of $25,000 each to support innovative projects that advance equitable cancer care delivery and outcomes.
The Impact Pitch is a Shark Tank–style live competition where early-career investigators take the stage to present bold, practice-changing research ideas. A panel of expert reviewers selects the most promising projects, and the audience votes to decide which proposals earn Binaytara Research Grant funding. Abstract Requirements
To qualify for consideration, applicants must have an abstract accepted for presentation at the Summit on Cancer Health Disparities (SCHD). SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT HERE
Selection Process
- The Abstract and Grants Committee will review all abstracts and invite a select few first authors to submit detailed research proposals for funding consideration.
- The committee will review all proposals and select the most promising proposals for live presentations during a special Impact Pitch session at SCHD in Seattle, WA on March 27-28, 2026.
- Following the live presentations, reviewers will score each proposal and the audience will vote for which projects should receive Binaytara Implementation Science Research Grant funding to support project completion.
- Funded investigators will present a progress or final report the following year at the 2027 Summit on Cancer Health Disparities, showcasing the impact of their ongoing or completed projects.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following categories:
A. Current Hematology/Oncology or Related Subspecialty Fellows
- Must have at least 18 months of fellowship training remaining at the time of proposal submission.
- Fellows with less than 18 months may apply if they have secured a faculty position at the same institution where the research will be conducted.
- A letter from the Program Director or Department Chair confirming post-fellowship institutional support is required.
B. Early-Career Hematologist/Oncologists and Implementation Scientists
- Within three years of starting a faculty position.
- Must hold a clinical, academic, or research appointment at an accredited medical institution or cancer center.
Additional Requirements
- The applicant must be the presenting author of an accepted abstract (poster or oral) at SCHD.
- Each applicant may submit only one proposal for funding consideration (only finalists selected by the committee may submit proposals).
- All fellows must identify a faculty mentor who will provide oversight and institutional support.
- The mentor’s name, title, institution, and a brief letter of support must be included.
- Projects must be feasible within 12–18 months and conducted under appropriate institutional oversight (IRB or equivalent).

The abstract committee will select finalists who will be invited to submit a research proposal and compete in the Impact Pitch.
Proposal Format
Each proposal must be submitted as a single PDF document (maximum 5 pages, excluding references and biosketches) and include the following sections:
A. Cover Page (1 page)
- Project Title
- Applicant – Name, Affiliation, Email, Phone
- Co-Investigators and Collaborators (if any)
- Abstract Title (as accepted for presentation)
- Funding Amount Requested (maximum $25,000)
- Category: Implementation Science
B. Proposal Content (max 4 pages)
- Background and Rationale
- Study Objectives and Hypotheses
- Implementation Framework or Model
- Methods and Evaluation Plan
- Anticipated Outcomes and Impact
- Feasibility and Timeline
Funding and Post-Award Expectations
- At least two proposals will be selected for funding (up to $25,000 each).
- No institutional overhead or indirect costs will be allowed; 100% of funds must be applied directly to project-related expenses.
- Awardees must acknowledge Binaytara support in all related publications, posters, and presentations.
- Progress reports must be submitted within 12 months of award issuance, and additional final reports must be submitted upon completion and publication of the research.
- Funded investigators must present a progress update or final report at the 2027 Summit on Cancer Health Disparities, highlighting the real-world impact of their research.
