Travel Required: This role is expected to travel to Binaytara conferences and events occasionally. Travel may include weekends and will be to domestic locations.

Position Overview

Binaytara seeks a motivated and intellectually rigorous Postdoctoral Research Fellow to advance its implementation science research agenda in cancer health equity. This is an ideal opportunity for a newly minted PhD scientist who wants to translate research into real-world impact for underserved populations. The Fellow will contribute to ongoing and new research projects, lead data analyses, support grant and manuscript activities, and grow as an independent investigator under mentorship from Binaytara's research leadership.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and disseminate implementation science studies focused on cancer prevention, screening, and care delivery in underserved populations.
  • Lead or contribute to data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approaches.
  • Prepare manuscripts and submit to peer-reviewed journals, and present findings at national conferences.
  • Support development of research proposals, including IRB protocols, grant applications, and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (clinical, community, and academic).
  • Participate actively in Binaytara's research and educational programming, including SCHD and related events.
  • Contribute to research ethics compliance and data safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in public health, epidemiology, health sciences, or a closely related field - new graduates strongly encouraged to apply.
  • At least 3 peer-reviewed first-author publications.
  • Experience as key personnel on at least one externally funded research project.
  • Strong research interest in health equity and cancer.
  • Solid grounding in quantitative and/or qualitative and/or mixed methods research.
  • Knowledge in cancer prevention, screening, and/or cancer biology.
  • Working knowledge of clinical epidemiology, including observational study and trial design.
  • Training in research ethics and data safety (e.g., CITI or equivalent).
  • Training in biostatistics; demonstrated independence in managing and analyzing health research data.
  • Proficiency in R and/or Stata for health data analysis and modeling.
  • Strong scientific writing skills: ability to draft and edit research proposals, manuscripts, and IRB protocols independently.

Preference given to candidates who have:

  • experience with cancer disparities research or implementation science frameworks (e.g., RE-AIM, CFIR).
  • familiarity with national cancer datasets (SEER, SEER*Stat, SEER-Medicare, NHANES, NHIS, BRFSS, USCS, BCSC, or similar).
  • experience creating and using REDCap based survey portals.
    Strong skills using project management tools such as spreadsheet based Smartsheet, Todoist, Monday.com, or Microsoft Project.
  • experience working with community health programs or under-resourced settings.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position based at Binaytara's office in Bellevue, WA. Remote or hybrid options are not available. Occasional travel to conferences and partner sites is expected.
