All clinical trials must be prospectively registered in a publicly accessible registry (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov, WHO ICTRP, ISRCTN, EU Clinical Trials Register, etc) before patient enrollment begins. The trial registration number must be included in the manuscript abstract. Retrospective registration is not acceptable except in exceptional circumstances with appropriate justification.
