Binaytara Team
As a key figure at Binaytara, a nonprofit leader in global oncology education and equity, Justin’s work transcends borders. Whether rallying support for the new hospital construction or sharing updates about the hospital’s progress, his voice resonates with urgency and compassion.
At Binaytara, where bridging cancer care gaps is a team effort, Justin’s work epitomizes the organization’s hands-on approach to equity.
From Advocacy to Action: A Mission Rooted in Equity
Justin’s journey with Binaytara began in January 2024, when he joined our organization’s efforts to address disparities in cancer care. Today, he plays a pivotal role in overseeing all revenue programs, including philanthropy and conference sponsorships, supporting our mission. He spearheads fundraising efforts and donor relations for the Nepal Hospital, which is undergoing construction. This 200-bed comprehensive cancer center will provide free or subsidized cancer care to underserved populations, many of whom travel days from remote villages to receive treatment.
But Justin’s impact extends beyond phone calls and strategy. He is the driving force behind the annual mission trip to Nepal. In March 2025, Justin embarked on a 68-mile trek to Annapurna base camp, alongside Dr. Shah and Binaytara supporters, to fundraise for the hospital in Nepal. This event combined adventure with advocacy. Sharing some reflections about the trek with the staff at the Binaytara monthly organizational update, Justin mentioned,
"Our trekkers committed to raising $10,000+ each through crowdfunding. They shared our mission with friends and family, explaining how every dollar supports the hospital. It was not just a hike; it was a way to turn awareness into action."
Those who work with Justin describe him as “passionate”. During the organizational updates, he meticulously outlines the hospital’s needs: from securing chemotherapy drugs to training local nurses. His updates are equal parts realism and optimism, often punctuated with phrases like, “We are close, but we can’t stop now.”
His advocacy work recently caught the attention of Swasthya Update, a leading South Asian health news platform. In their April 2025 feature, A A Life Turned Toward Purpose: Justin Marquart, they captured a poignant moment from Justin’s journey, one that reflects his deeper why. “I spent over a decade climbing the corporate ladder in tech, but everything changed when my daughter Ella passed away. It was through the generosity of donors during that time that I first saw the life-changing power of philanthropy,” said Justin. That turning point eventually led him to global health work, and now, to helping build a transformative, comprehensive cancer center in Nepal.
Join the Movement
Binaytara’s 200-bed comprehensive cancer center is more than a medical facility; it is a model for making cancer care more accessible in low-resource settings. Under Justin’s leadership, Binaytara has raised over $3 million for continuing medical education conference support and tens of millions in construction grants and other support in process. All of this in addition to developing relationships with key stakeholders in government and community to accelerate the construction of the hospital.
Justin often remarks, “If we can make this work in Nepal, we can replicate it anywhere. That is the power of collaboration.”
Binaytara continues to lead innovations in global oncology, from its 50+ annual conferences to groundbreaking equity initiatives. Justin’s story reminds us that progress hinges on individuals who lead with empathy and bring people together through meaningful collaboration.
