Biography

Adel D. Gilbert, MSc, MSc, CGC, is the Founding Program Director of the Genetic Counseling Program, Clinical Associate Professor at Xavier University of Louisiana, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine. A board-certified genetic counselor with extensive experience in clinical genetics, genetic counseling education, and graduate medical education, she spearheaded the development and accreditation of Louisiana’s first genetic counseling program, and the only program in the nation at a Catholic Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Her leadership encompasses curriculum development, clinical training, and strategic partnerships, with a focus on preparing genetic counselors to deliver scientifically rigorous, compassionate, and culturally responsive patient care.
