Akshay Amaraneni, MD

Biography

Akshay Amaraneni is a Hematologist specializing primarily in non-malignant/classical hematology. He completed his medical school at St. George’s University and his residency at Western Michigan University before moving to Tucson, AZ for his fellowship. Since graduation, he worked in community practice for 2 years before rejoining the University as a junior faculty member and assistant clinical professor of medicine.  His areas of interest are hemostasis, thrombosis, anemia, and quantitative platelet disorders. He serves as the director of the Arizona Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center, focusing on patients with bleeding disorders. He also serves as the program director for the Hematology/Oncology fellowship program and works with trainees at all levels, including fellows, residents, and medical students.
