Alissa Greenbaum, MD

Biography

Dr. Alissa Greenbaum is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and a surgical oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal and peritoneal surface malignancies. She serves as Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and leads the UNM Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program, where she provides advanced surgical care for patients with complex abdominal cancers, including cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Dr. Greenbaum’s research focuses on improving cancer outcomes through investigations of surgical oncology, healthcare disparities, Native American health, cancer screening, and clinical outcomes research using large patient databases. Her scholarly work also explores surgical education, resident wellness, and innovative approaches to improving surgical practice. Through her clinical, research, and educational efforts, Dr. Greenbaum is dedicated to advancing equitable, evidence-based care and training the next generation of surgeons.
