Biography
Dr. Traer completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology from Oregon Health & Science University. He received his M.D./Ph.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Traer sees patients with myeloid malignancies at OHSU including AML, APL, MDS and MPNs. He is actively involved in multiple clinical trials evaluating novel targeted agents in these patients. In his lab, he studies how the marrow microenvironment provides sanctuary to leukemia cells by providing critical survival signals that eventually leads to disease resistance and relapse. He is also working on new models of AML and other blood cancers to accelerate new therapies and drug combinations into the clinic.
