Biography
Dr. Abu Rous is a Thoracic Oncologist at Henry Ford Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his MD from the University of Jordan in 2015 and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Michigan State University/Sparrow Hospital, followed by a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Henry Ford Health. Specializing in lung cancer under the mentorship of Dr. Shirish Gadgeel, he has published several manuscripts and book chapters and presented award-winning research at local and national conferences. During his fellowship, he served as chief fellow and received the Fellow of The Year Award and the Robert A. Chapman M.D. Outstanding Fellow Award. Dr. Abu Rous is a recipient of the 2023 ASCO Conquer Cancer Young Investigator Award and a participant in the prestigious ASCO/AACR Methods in Clinical Cancer Research Workshop. He was recently awarded a grant from the U-CAN-CER-VIVE foundation to advance his research on squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. His research focuses on biomarker development and clinical trial design to improve outcomes for patients with lung cancer.
