Jiao Liu, MD

Biography

Dr. Liu is the Director of the Cytogenetics Diagnostic Laboratory at the Hayward Genetics Center, Department of Pediatrics, Tulane University School of Medicine. She is board-certified in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Dr. Liu received her medical degree from Jianghan University in Wuhan, China, and completed graduate training in anesthesiology at Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Dr. Liu's professional expertise includes clinical cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, chromosomal abnormalities, and genetic testing for constitutional disorders and hematologic malignancies. Her research interests focus on the application of emerging genomic technologies to improve genetic diagnosis and characterization of chromosomal abnormalities. In addition to her laboratory leadership responsibilities, she is actively involved in graduate medical genetics education, resident and fellow training, and curriculum development at Tulane University School of Medicine.
