Biography
Margaret T. Kasner, MD, MSCE Interim Director Division of Hematologic Malignancies Chief of the Leukemia Section Associate Director of Clinical Research Professor of Medical Oncology Margaret (Margie) Kasner is a nationally recognized expert in leukemia care and education. Dr. Kasner earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, followed by an internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics from the University of Pennsylvania. She also serves as Chair of the Clinical Research Leadership Committee, and Co-Chair of the Clinical Trials Advisory Committee at Jefferson. Board-certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology, Dr. Kasner’s clinical and research expertise focuses on patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and related disorders. Her work spans all phases of research, including first-in-human (Phase I), translational, and Phase II and III clinical trials. In addition to her institutional leadership, Dr. Kasner is the Chair of the Association of American Cancer Institutes’ (AACI) Clinical Research Innovations Committee, Chair of the American Society of Hematology’s (ASH) CME Accreditation Committee, co-Chair of the Acute Leukemias ClincalPath Oncology Committee and a member of the ASH Committee on Educational Affairs.
