Praveen Ramakrishnan Geethakumari, MD, MBA

Biography

I currently serve as the Director of the Aggressive Lymphoma Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center. My clinical research focuses on targeted and cellular therapies in lymphoid malignancies. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Division of Hematology and Oncology. In addition, I also serve as the Medical Director of the Infusion Center and Acute Care Center (SAC) at Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer. Originally from India, I received initial medical training at the Medical College, Trivandrum, University of Kerala, India, followed by Internal Medicine residency training at the Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry, India. I received  advanced training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I also earned a master's degree in pharmacology through the NIH K30 Training Program in Human Investigation. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and in hematology and medical oncology, I joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017.I am an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, American Association for Cancer Research, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the International Primary CNS Lymphoma Collaborative Group.​
