Biography
Smitha S. Krishnamurthi, MD is a medical oncologist specializing in the care of patients with gastrointestinal cancers. She is a staff physician in the Department of Hematology and Oncology at Cleveland Clinic and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). She completed her fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University after completing residency and medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Krishnamurthi is a co-Chair of the Colon Task Force for the GI Steering Committee of the National Cancer Institute. She is a member of the GI committee of Southwest Oncology Group and the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group. She is also a member of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer Gastrointestinal Cancers Immunotherapy Guideline Expert Panel. Her research interest is in clinical trials for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. She enjoys partnering with patient advocacy groups to raise awareness about early onset colorectal cancer and clinical trials.
