Biography

Dr. Uma Borate is a hematologist specializing in the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN), and clonal cytopenias of unknown significance. She received her Master of Science in Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine from the University of Cincinnati and completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Alabama. Dr. Borate feels privileged to be involved in the care of her patients and to be a partner in their fight against disease. Whether through groundbreaking research or cutting-edge clinical treatments, she believes that better care is delivered when everyone works together as a team. This philosophy aligns with the patient care teams and laboratory scientists at The James as they strive toward the shared goal of creating a cancer-free world.
