Biography

Dr. Vijayakrishna “V.K.” Gadi, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine and Director of Medical Oncology in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and serves as Deputy Director of the University of Illinois Cancer Center. Dr. Gadi earned his medical degree and PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where he later served on faculty before joining the University of Illinois Chicago in 2020. Dr. Gadi is a physician-scientist whose clinical and laboratory research focuses on breast cancer, immunotherapy and cancer immunology, and functional genetics in cancer target discovery. Before joining UIC in 2020, he spent 20 years in Seattle at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
