Welcome Message from the President of Binaytara to Hematology Oncology Fellows
Welcome, Class of 2025!
“Congratulations on reaching this important milestone in your medical career. Hematology-oncology is a uniquely rewarding and intellectually dynamic field that offers the opportunity to make a profound difference in patients’ lives. Few specialties combine the depth of science, the pace of innovation, and the depth of human connection quite like this one. Binaytara platforms, including The Cancer News (TCN), offer accessible insights into emerging data and evolving standards of care. And for those preparing for board exams, OncoBlast is a powerful, gamified learning tool with ABIM-style questions and detailed explanations to reinforce your clinical knowledge in a fun, interactive format.” — Dr. Binay Shah, president and co-founder of Binaytara
How Binaytara is Empowering the Next Generation of Specialists
Fellowships are designed to cultivate expert physicians in various subspecialties, deepening your knowledge, sharpening your patient care skills, and opening doors to new career opportunities. This marks an important and exciting step in your medical training journey.
From gaining hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating patients within a subspecialty to researching, teaching, and engaging in professional development, medical fellows play a vital role in advancing patient care and pushing the boundaries of medical knowledge. The training years are intense but rewarding, filled with opportunities to grow as both clinicians and scholars.
Binaytara has several programs to support and empower medical fellows in their chosen specialty. We offer free continuing medical education (CME), no-cost opportunities to publish scholarly work, and other resources designed to support medical fellows as they advance in their chosen specialties.
Here are some of our free and open-access resources to support healthcare professionals in continuing their training at any stage of their career:
1. Attend Our Complimentary Medical Oncology Conferences
Binaytara is one of the largest organizers of hematology/oncology medical conferences in the United States. As a leader in global oncology, we host over 50 CME/ACPE-accredited conferences that share the latest updates in hematology and oncology while addressing critical issues in cancer health disparities.
What makes us stand out is that we do not just educate about the frontiers of cancer treatment; we bring that education to regions that are medically underserved.
Cannot make it to the ASCO Annual Meeting? There is a good chance Binaytara is hosting an officially licensed Best of ASCO conference near you. Missed the ASH or SABCS annual meetings? Several of our regional Best of Hematology and Breast Cancer conferences cover the latest and most important updates from those events.
And the best part? Registration and attendance are free. We also offer travel awards for residents and fellows to attend our CME/ACPE-accredited conferences.
In March 2025, two fellows from the University of Iowa received travel awards to attend a Binaytara conference in Des Moines. Reflecting on her experience, Dr. Mehndi Dandwani, a first-year hematology-oncology and palliative care fellow, shared:
“I expected to learn about clinical trials from ASH, but what stuck with me was hearing how a doctor in Des Moines got the community to start using bispecifics. It showed me how research can actually make a difference in real-world patient care.”

2. Earn Free CME Credits in Oncology
What if there is a free, easily accessible, and fun way to stay updated with the latest in oncology—in your pockets?! Well, there is good news. Binaytara has developed the world’s first app, OncoBlast, that provides oncology-centered game-based activities to earn MOC points and CME credits for free.
So if there are barriers beyond your control that prevent you from attending one of our live CME events, you can still keep learning from anywhere with OncoBlast. OncoBlast empowers students, residents, fellows, and clinicians to help cancer patients by reinforcing knowledge on the best advances in cancer biology and therapy. Staying current is now becoming a burden in medical oncology due to information overload.
For example, the first half of 2025 has seen at least 20 FDA approval announcements for cancer indications, covering advances in immunotherapy and targeted therapy. Moreover, 5 of these cancer drugs are accelerated approvals, indicating the urgency of innovative and effective oncology treatments.
To maintain the same pace with the best practices for cancer management, healthcare professionals must adopt effective learning strategies to overcome the challenges of their busy schedules. The OncoBlast app, a pioneer in gamified learning within oncology, is here to make learning easy, accessible, and fun. You can download the app on the App Store and Google Play Store for free, completing your continuing medical education requirements through OncoBlast.
3. Low-cost Open Access Medical Publishing
As you begin your fellowship and explore research opportunities, finding a place to publish your work, whether case reports or review articles, can be challenging. Among other barriers, medical fellows may face financial constraints related to open-access publishing fees..
In line with our mission to close the gap in cancer care and education, we established the International Journal of Cancer Care and Delivery (IJCCD), a scholarly platform dedicated to advancing equity and accessibility in cancer care worldwide. There is no fee to submit a manuscript to IJCCD.
We accept articles of varying formats, such as commentaries, conference abstracts, editorials, expert opinions, letters to the editor, original research, review articles, and short reports. We encourage short reports, including case reports/series and innovations in cancer care delivery-based case reports. Please note that we do not accept pre-clinical studies.
If your research aligns with our journal's scope, visit binaytara.org/journal to learn more about the submission process.
4. Become a Cancer Education Expert
Binaytara champions several professional development opportunities for medical fellows and residents. One avenue through which we empower fellows and residents is by cultivating their thought leadership in cancer care through publishing opportunities in The Cancer News (TCN).
TCN is an independent news media publication by Binaytara that features expert analysis on various topics in the field of hematology and oncology. The goal of this platform is to dissect the latest research and complex cancer information, disseminating vital and timely knowledge to oncology professionals and the general public. Currently, our scope of coverage spans cancer education, health policy, research, and health equity. So far, we have had several attendings, residents, and medical fellows across various specialties contribute to and review for TCN.
It is an excellent opportunity not only to learn more about the latest developments in oncology but also to sharpen communication skills, both at the patient level and the expert level. Overall, TCN is an invaluable avenue to foster lifelong learning while enhancing your professionalism on the road to becoming specialized in oncology.
5. Professional Development Through Volunteering
How do you network as a medical fellow? This is one of the top questions on the minds of many medical residents and fellows. Networking is an important part of medical training as it facilitates knowledge exchange beyond textbooks, supports mentorship and collaboration, and opens doors to career advancement.
At Binaytara, we offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to help you grow professionally as a medical fellow. You can volunteer at one of our many in-person conferences near your city, gaining firsthand exposure to the latest advances in oncology from leaders in the field. You might also choose to support our 200-bed cancer hospital in Nepal by fundraising to expand access to quality healthcare in underserved areas.
Additional opportunities include joining our Education Committee, where you will gain leadership experience helping organize conferences, or serving on the editorial team of IJCCD, contributing to scholarly advancements in cancer care. Depending on your interests, we also offer volunteer roles in photography and videography, IT and tech support, marketing and graphic design, and social media engagement.
Each of our volunteer programs is designed not only to support your professional development but also to connect you with a broader network of hematologists and oncologists committed to advancing equitable cancer care.

Learn with Us and Drive Meaningful Impact
Binaytara has been a leader in global oncology education since 2008. Many of our CME/ACPE conferences focus on multidisciplinary topics aimed at integrating new advancements into patient-centered care. In 2008, we began providing research grants to medical students and residents in Nepal and India. With over 50 conferences annually, we are now educating healthcare professionals from all over the United States at various stages of their careers, from medical students and residents to fellows and physicians.
We strongly believe that targeted CME and cross-institutional collaboration are essential to expanding the reach and impact of novel cancer treatments. Learn more about upcoming regional and national hematology/oncology conferences and initiatives at the Binaytara Education Academy.
