During the closing weekend of the ASCO Annual Meeting in early June, the largest oncology gathering in the world got to its feet for a raucous 30-second standing ovation. The clinical trial results had been announced for a new drug treatment for pancreatic cancer, doubling the survival rate and tripling the response rate in metastatic patients compared to chemotherapy—a “breathtaking” outcome, according to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN).

This reminder of the power of research comes during Binaytara’s biggest research funding year to date: $450,000 in grants in 2026, realized as multiple awards across multiple cancer research disciplines. The awards support fellows and early-career faculty (those within ten years of fellowship), building a strong foundation for the next generation of standing ovation-worthy clinical investigation on the global stage.

The $25,000 per awardee Implementation Science Research Awards were conferred in March 2026 at the Summit on Cancer Health Disparities, but funding across other disciplines is still on the table. Binaytara Lung Cancer Research Award – New York

Deadline: Tuesday, June 30th | Up to $50,000

Presented at the Brooklyn Lung Cancer Conference, this award supports early-career thoracic investigators conducting high-impact lung cancer research in the Northeastern United States. The award is exclusively available to those in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New England—convening the best of regional thoracic talent. This program combines research funding with a high-visibility platform, culminating in Binaytara’s signature Impact Pitch. After this popular science-meets-showtime session, one investigator will walk away with up to $50,000 in funding.

If you are a Northeastern investigator with an idea that could change clinical practice, don’t hesitate. The deadline for the Binaytara Lung Cancer Research Award is coming up this month, on Tuesday, June 30th. The associated Brooklyn Lung Cancer Conference spans August 8th - 9th.

Binaytara Precision Oncology Research Awards

Deadline: Wednesday, July 15th | Up to $25,000

The call for abstracts is open for the 6th Binaytara Precision Oncology Summit: at the Forefront of Targeted Cancer Therapy—the associated conference for the Binaytara Precision Oncology Research Awards. This premier national conference is focused on precision medicine, molecular oncology, and targeted cancer treatment strategies, with a strong research component highlighting innovative research and real-world applications shaping the future of cancer care. The Binaytara Precision Oncology Research Awards encompass $50,000 of total funding, realized $25,000 per awardee.

The Precision Oncology Summit will take place on September 11th - 12th in San Francisco, overseen by Stanford University’s Mark Pegram, MD; and James M. Ford, MD. The abstract submission deadline is July 15th.

Binaytara Lung Cancer Research Award – Seattle

Deadline: Friday, July 31st | Up to $50,000

The Binaytara Lung Cancer Research Award – Seattle, presented at the 2026 Seattle Lung Cancer Conference, supports early-career investigators from across the United States and internationally. This program offers research funding, global visibility, and a unique platform to present innovative ideas in lung cancer research. Unlike its Northeastern cousin, this award is open to a national and global audience. Two awards up to $50,000 will be disseminated to early-career lung cancer investigators conducting meaningful research in the field of lung cancer.

The proposal submission deadline is Friday, July 31st, with the associated conference taking place October 9th - 10th.

Shaji Kumar Hematology Research Award

Deadline: Saturday, August 15th | Up to $50,000

Named in honor of Shaji Kumar, MD, Mayo Clinic Hematologist, this award supports innovative research that advances the science and care of hematologic malignancies. The program is aligned with the National Summit on Hematologic Cancers—for which Kumar is one of four co-chairs—and is designed to catalyze impactful investigations by early-career faculty and fellows. The Shaji Kumar Hematology Research Award aims to support early-career investigators pursuing impactful discoveries that improve the understanding and treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and related hematologic malignancies, while fostering mentorship, collaboration, and innovation within the hematology community. The Shaji Kumar Hematology Research Awards are split between early-career faculty awards (up to $50,000) and fellow awards (up to $25,000). Multiple of each are available.
