Biography
Professor Aadel Chaudhuri leads the Liquid Biopsy and Immunogenomics Laboratory at Mayo Clinic. His group develops and clinically translates liquid biopsy approaches, leveraging genomic, epigenomic, fragmentomic, and immune repertoire profiling of human biofluids to enable early cancer detection, dynamic treatment monitoring, and prediction of therapeutic response and resistance. His work has advanced ctDNA MRD detection using plasma, urine, and lymph-derived biofluids and has pioneered approaches to noninvasively resolve the tumor microenvironment. Most recently, his group co-developed Spatial EcoTyper and Liquid EcoTyper, linking conserved spatially organized tumor microenvironmental ecotypes to immunotherapy response and innovating a way to measure these tumor microenvironmental ecosystems noninvasively from plasma cell-free DNA methylomes. Together, these approaches seek to transform liquid biopsy from a measure of tumor burden to a functional window into the biological state of the cancer and its surrounding tumor microenvironment. His research program is supported by six R01 and U01 awards from the National Cancer Institute of which he is PI.
