Binaytara Accepting Abstracts for 2027 Summit on Cancer Health Disparities
Binaytara is now accepting abstract submissions for the 2027 Summit on Cancer Health Disparities (SCHD27). Researchers can submit their abstracts by December 11, 2026 to be considered.
This year’s summit is led by Ana Maria Lopez, MD, MPH, MACP, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, David Aboulafia, MD, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and Don Dizon, MD, FACP, FASCO Tufts Medical Center.
"SCHD 2027 is an incredible opportunity to share ideas and learn from others. It promises to be engaging and accessible, offering great opportunities to connect with leaders in cancer and health inequities research." said David Aboulafia, MD.
At last year’s summit, Binaytara launched the David Aboulafia Merit Award for 25 first authors who submitted exceptional abstracts for the conference. Recipients of this award will have their registration fee waived and receive $500 to use towards travel and accommodations. This reduces financial barriers for early career investigators to share their findings at the summit and have the opportunity to be recognized for their outstanding research.
“Submitting an abstract gives you an avenue to discuss your work and ideas with experts in the field and the opportunity to compete for grant funds to support your project,” said Abstract Co-Chair Martha Mims, MD, PhD, Baylor College of Medicine.
She will be reviewing abstracts alongside Abstract Co-Chair Karen Ballen, MD, University of Virginia School of Medicine.
At the Summit, the organization will award $25,000 in research funding through the Binaytara Implementation Science Research Award.
Impact Pitch: The Live Pitching Competition
Authors of accepted abstracts may be eligible to submit their research proposals to be considered for the Impact Pitch. The Impact Pitch is a research competition where selected finalists are invited to present proposals to a panel of catalysts, or judges, for the chance to gain funding for their research. Due to the conference’s focus on cancer health disparities, this competition prioritizes projects that address access, equity, and delivery gaps across diverse populations.
Recognition for Poster Abstracts
Researchers doing a poster presentation may also have the opportunity to be considered for the Abstract Poster Session Awards. Posters are reviewed based on scientific quality, relevance to cancer health disparities, and overall impact. The 2026 Poster Abstract Award Winners were recognized for addressing urgent inequities in cancer care.
For those who may be unable to make the conference, all accepted abstracts will be available to read in the International Journal of Cancer Care and Delivery.
Abstract submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the deadline of December 11th, 2026. Visit the abstract site to learn more information about abstract submission criteria and register for the conference to see how researchers are working to eliminate cancer care disparities.
“Progress in cancer care needs all of us,” said Conference Co-Chair Ana Maria Lopez, MD, MPH, MACP, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, “Together, we'll implement educational, clinical, and policy solutions in cancer health delivery from prevention to early detection and survivorship across large health systems and community practices in both low and high income settings.”
