Erika Maestas, MD, is an associate professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center and a medical oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal malignancies. A New Mexico native, she earned her bachelor's degrees in biology and Spanish and her medical degree from UNM, completed her internal medicine residency at Loyola University Medical Center, and returned to UNM for her hematology/oncology fellowship. Her clinical and research interests focus on improving outcomes for patients with gastrointestinal cancers and expanding access to high-quality cancer care.
